The Race: Mama's Side

I like to make baby blankets for my babies.  I don't have any grandchildren yet, but I DO have a grand total of 6 great-nieces and nephews, with number 7 due to make an appearance around Thanksgiving.

I have been lagging on getting the latest blanket done.  For some reason I just couldn't seem to get my fingers in gear.  Mr. Marvelous got a little tired of me whining about it, so he challenged me to the race.  That kick was all I needed!  In one week I finished V, X, Y and Z, put the backing on and got it quilted.  Thanks, Honey!

Here is the finished product.  I chose the verses and designed them.  The Alphabet letter came from an old Leisure Arts Alphabets and Borders Volume 3.  I've wanted to do something with this alphabet since forever and a little girl seemed the time to try it out.

A couple of notes:
Her middle name is Rose so finding the roses for the backing was exciting.

The W verse is kind of a family joke and is always the W verse for babies.  My Dad had someone post that over the nursery in one of his early churches and for him, a father of 5, that has been the nursery verse ever since.

I found blanket binding to put around the edge, partly because I'm not real happy with the top edge, but when I tried it out I didn't like it, so it will just have to do.  I don't like imperfections.  They make me cringe.  Sigh.

I love you, Alayna Rose!

I really love the blanket and the roses are such a special touch! I show off Miles blanket to everybody, and I can't tell you just how excited I am about this one. They are going to grow up knowing they are so loved by their special Aunt Virginia:) Thank you for taking the time to make little Alayna such a wonderful blanket!
We love you!!
